Hi! My name is Cat and not only do I have narcolepsy with cataplexy, I also am quite successful in my personal and professional life! I was diagnosed with narcolepsy, cataplexy, and REM Stage Behavior Disorder (RBD) when I was 28. At the time of my diagnosis I was on a leave from my career and unsure if I would be able to control my symptoms to go back to the career I love. I am now 30 years old, diagnosed for over a year and a half. I have been married for almost 7 years, have two young daughters (3 and 5), and an amazing career. In 2005 I graduated with my BA in Art. After 2 1/2 years in insurance I followed my heart into a career in higher education. I finished my Master of Education in Adult Education and Administration summa cum laude in 2009. I am currently working on a second graduate degree, this time a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership with a dual specialization in Project Management and Corporate Training & Instructional Design. I have been working in higher education for over six years. I have held many positions and been promoted often. I am currently a new hire mentor and Enrollment Counselor for one of the most well reputed state online universities. I am proud of my family, my education, my career, and all that I've been able to do to raise narcolepsy awareness. In my free time I am one of three who moderate the monthly twitter chat, #nchat, and one of two who keeps up on www.TheNarcolepsyFight.org. We have a website, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr account that I monitor with the assistance of my partner in crime, Mike. Although every day is no walk in the park, I am happy to say that narcolepsy has not stopped me or slowed me down! I hope to inspire others that although invasive, narcolepsy doesn't have to consume you or stop you from reaching your goals!
